Mike Pompeo

Host: Dr. Tim Clinton

January 10, 2022

On today's edition of Family Talk, former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, a devout Christian and a man whose life has been defined by public service, shares the story of his conversion to Christ as a young cadet at West Point. Not surprisingly, Pompeo became a champion of religious liberty and, during his time at the State Department, he even helped to create the Unalienable Rights Commission concerning international human rights matters. In this exclusive one-on-one interview with Dr. Tim Clinton, Mike recalls that one of the highlights from his time as Secretary of State was negotiating the release of three Christians from North Korea in 2018. Secretary Pompeo reveals his distaste for the secular line of thinking that predominates today's politics. Despite that reality, he is confident that we can once again restore the vision that America is a "light on a hill."

Mike Pompeo

Michael R. Pompeo is an American diplomat, politician, businessman, and attorney, hailing from the state of Kansas. He was elected to serve four terms in Congress representing Kansas’ 4th District from 2011 to 2017. In January of 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump appointed him to serve as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. In 2018 Pompeo was appointed by the President to serve as the 70th Secretary of State of the United States, a position he held from 2018 until January of 2021. Prior to that, Pompeo graduated first in his class at the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986. After graduating he served as a tank platoon leader during The Cold War, patrolling along the Iron Curtain. Pompeo was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1991 as a Captain. He then enrolled in Harvard Law School, graduating with a juris doctorate degree in 1994. Before serving in Congress, he spent a decade leading two manufacturing businesses in Kansas.
